Biopolymer materials with chemically and genetically programmed selectivity to heavy metals for new generation ultra-sensitive biosensors in the competition: Strategic research and development program "Modern material technologies" - TECHMATSTRATEG III.
Project goal: The project concerns research and development and pre-implementation works, the result of which will be the creation of an ultra-sensitive and mobile device allowing for the simultaneous and fast detection of at least 8 different heavy metals in water with the use of electrochemical and optical measurements. The device in question will be able to detect the presence of contaminants at the point of water intake intended for human consumption in accordance with the standards of permissible concentrations of heavy metals recommended, among others, by WHO and the Ministry of Health.
The project manager is dr hab. Eng. Marcin Olszewski from the Department of Biotechnology of Medicinal Agents and Cosmetics. The total value of the project is PLN 18,458,913.97. The project has been implemented since January 1, 2021 in the consortium of Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine, Łukasiewicz Research Network - Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics and Pro Science Sp. z o.o. The project leader is the Warsaw University of Technology.

Gynocheck
Project goal: development and implementation on the market of a PoC (Point of Care) device for the rapid identification of Streptococcus agalactiae, Gardnerella vaginalis, Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma urealyticum and Ureaplasma parvum. The main advantage of the developed test will be quick and simple species identification of bacteria from a vaginal swab. The result will be available after several to several dozen minutes during a medical visit, without the need to send samples for laboratory tests. The test will be dedicated to gynecological patients, mainly pregnant women.

BladderDx
Rapid and non-invasive test for the early diagnosis of bladder cancer under Measure 4.1. Intelligent Development Operational Program 2014-2020, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund; IV: Increasing the scientific and research potential; Action 4.1: Research and development work; Sub-measure 4.1.2: Regional scientific and research agendas
Aim of the project: to improve the diagnosis of bladder tumors by introducing a non-invasive and specific test. The aim of the project is to conduct an effective diagnostic method that allows to monitor the course of treatment in people after surgery, and at a later stage, a method that allows for early cancer detection. The principle of operation of the test will be based on the detection of the presence of proteasome markers in the urine, the presence of which may be the result of a bladder tumor.
